We produce storytelling projects with, by, and for Utahns impacted by climate change and economic transition.
Of Salt and Sand is a collective of Utah-based storytellers, journalists, artists, facilitators, multimedia producers, and community organizers. We formed in 2022 with the belief that storytelling can help Utahns transition from an extractive economy to a dignified and living economy. We love our home–the land, the water, our neighbors–and we want a thriving future here.
We produce storytelling media that reckons with what it means to stay in Utah through economic transition and climate crisis. Despite often being told to leave — whether for job opportunities or cleaner air — Utahns still possess a fierce commitment to home. Through storytelling, we seek to help communities secure economic opportunity, honor our past and dreams, and repair for healthy, resilient, and thriving futures.
